Local Nonprofit Expands Footprint
A Samaritan Shop more than twice the size of its Springdale counterpart will open later this summer at the Frisco Station Mall in Rogers.
The new resale shop will provide financial assistance to, and falls under the umbrella of, the Samaritan Community Center – a benevolent ministry started by Fellowship Bible Church of Rogers 21 years ago.
The independent nonprofit center offers a variety of services, from a kitchen (Samaritan Café) to a food pantry (Samaritan Market) at separate locations in Springdale and Rogers. The centers help feed thousands each month; the group also supports a snack pack program that reaches more than 3,500 children in a four-county area.
The new site will be managed by Rick and Tosh Pearson of Bentonville. Volunteers will mostly serve as staff at the Rogers shop, which will be located in a 25,000-SF space formerly occupied by Stage. Everything from electronics to appliances and housewares will be available.
“We’re seeing more and more hunger in this area with the economy in the situation it’s in,” Tosh Pearson said. “It’s necessary for us to plant another shop.”
