ATU-Ozark issues nursing awards
The Practical Nursing Program at Arkansas Tech – Ozark recognized 18 graduating nursing students during the pinning ceremony on May 14. The program was held at 6:30 p.m. in the new Student Services and Conference Center.
The students gave awards for CNA, LPN, and RN of the year from each clinical group which were presented to the nurses in the field who assisted our graduates throughout the course from Van Buren and Clarksville.
RN of the Year:

Grace Brown, LPN, Summit Medical Center
CAN of the Year
LaFonda Stepp, CNA, Ozark Nursing Home
Jerry Gomez, CNA, Crawford Health and Rehab
Pinning ceremonies date back to the Nightingale School of Nursing in London where Florence Nightingale awarded pins to outstanding nurses. The tradition will continue with this year’s graduating class.
