AHA Receives Signal Honor
Christina Hinds of the Northwest Arkansas American Heart Association has been named as a recipient of the Rome Betts Award of Excellence.
The Rome Betts Award exists in memory of the AHA’s executive director from 1949 to 1968. Honorees exemplify consistent high performance and are recognized for leadership, professionalism and dedication.
Charged with championing such events as the Northwest Arkansas Heart Gala and Go Red for Women, Hinds’ efforts as corporate market director are being met with success.
Executive director Cindy Hudlow said event revenues have grown every year since Hinds joined the AHA in July 2006. In fact, Hudlow wrote last fall that Hinds had “achieved a fiscal year increase of 69.8 percent on the Go Red event, and a 56.5 percent fiscal year increase on her Gala event.” That means more funding to spread awareness, and, hopefully, help save lives.
Hinds, who learned just last month that she would receive this prestigious national honor, said educational efforts like Go Red for Women teach women how they can help prevent heart disease in themselves as well as others.
