J.B. Hunt Tops In Fatal Crashes
There were 71 vehicles from some of the Northwest Arkansas’ largest trucking fleets involved in fatal crashes within the last 24 months, according to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Year-over-year comparison data was not available.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. of Lowell had the highest number of overall crashes and crashes that resulted in fatalities with 757 and 20, respectively. The company also operates the largest average number of trucks.
Wal-Mart Transportation LLC of Bentonville had the second-highest number of crashes in the last 24 months with 425, which is about 56 percent of J.B. Hunt’s total.
Wal-Mart operates about 6,891 units, which is about 58 percent of J.B. Hunt’s total units.
Peterson Farms Inc. reported no crashes in the time period. Simmon’s Foods Inc. of Siloam Springs acquired much of Peterson Farms’ fleet in mid-2008.
