About 100 people attended the sponsors party for the 2010 Wine and Roses annual event for the Donald W. Reynolds Cancers Support House at the Home of J. Lee Didier on Tuesday evening. The event was open to sponsors who contributed at least $1,000 and also committee and board members . Wine, hors d’oeuvres and deserts complimented the art for sale at the drop-in social event.

Artists Patricia Lappin, Cindy Beller, Jane Davidian, Jimmy Leach and Barbara Loftin mingled with guests and talked about their works.

Wine and Roses will be held on April 10 at the cancer support house. Area artists will feature their work for sale by highest bidder. In addition, a wine auction is also held to raise money for cancer patients. Jim and Michael Hadley will be the auctioneers this year. Last year’s event raised more than $100,000.

"We are the largest cancer support house in the country," said event co-chair Amy Jordan.

The support house helps about 2,500 river valley residents a year with counseling and education services as well as financial help, wigs, yoga and other classes.

New to this year’s event will be piano, coffee and chocolate bars said Martha Pendleton, executive director of the cancer support foundation of the Donald W. Reynolds Cancer Support House.

Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased online at www.reynoldscancersupporthouse.org or by calling (479) 424-1812.
