Of the top 13 executive races in Crawford and Sebastian counties monitored by The City Wire, only three are contested after the first two days of the political filing period.

The period began Mar. 1, and ends at Noon on Mar. 8.

In Crawford County, Circuit Clerk Sharon Blount, a Democrat, is being challenged by Jill Gregory, who also filed as a Democrat.

Sebastian County has two top contested races. Bill Hollenbeck is challenging Sheriff Frank Atkinson. Both filed as Democrats.

Sharon Brooks, a Republican, and Angie Hatwig, a Democrat, have filed for the Sebastian County Clerk job. County Clerk Doris Tate has filed to run for the Arkansas Secretary of State post, leaving the county clerk post without an incumbent for the first time in almost 20 years.
