Forty Under 40: Jonathan Janacek, 28
Between his dad working as CEO and his mom serving as office manager, fourth-generation builder Jonathan Janacek isn’t exaggerating when describing his firm as a family affair.
A full-time employee of Janacek Construction since June 2002, Janacek describes the business as a full-service remodeling company that specializes in renovations, remodeling, restorations, and room additions.
Of the recession, volume “has been down, but work has been steady,” he said. “We usually stay booked a couple weeks out.”
Last year business grew five percent, but less so in 2010.
The upshot?
“One positive thing about a recession is it gives you time to focus on the area you need to improve on the most,” he said.
Originally from San Antonio, Janacek briefly worked for Arvest Mortgage Co. before leaving to pursue his current career. After three years spent learning the trade, he began tackling the design and sales side of the business. Today he keeps busy giving consultations, estimations and writing contracts.
In addition to several professional certifications, Janacek is a board member of the Northwest Arkansas Homebuilders Association. An avid deer hunter, he is ready for new challenges — and confident God will continue providing for the family business.
