Forty Under 40: Brent Farmer, 36

To Brent Farmer, there’s little more gratifying than starting with a dirt pad, then walking away having built a 276,000-SF high school.
The Oklahoma native is proud to say he’s spent his entire 16-year career with one company — Flintco.
Farmer said he would’ve been satisfied framing houses, but his mother convinced him to seek education at Oklahoma State University. He earned his associates of applied science in 1994, then immediately joined Flintco.
He worked in and around Tulsa for several years before taking an opportunity to be part of a new Northwest Arkansas satellite for the company. At the time, the Flintco arm in Arkansas was named Oakridge Builders.
He’s enjoyed growing with Flintco as the company has grown its presence in Arkansas. At one time he had 22 active projects to oversee and the last couple of years have been hectic with more than $200 million in projects nearing completion. Those tasks were started before the economy stomped on the brakes, but Farmer is optimistic about the future.
When he’s not building projects, he’s building relationships through work with Habitat for Humanity of Washington County, Arts Center of the Ozarks and the Springdale Chamber of Commerce.
In his spare time, he enjoys woodworking and making furniture.
