Judith Miller, a Republican, recently announced she is seeking re-election as Sebastian County Treasurer/Collector.

The Greenwood resident has more than 25 years of experience in county government. She has worked in the County Clerk’s office and for the Election Commission until employment in the Treasurer’s office in 2000.

Miller graduated from Greenwood High School as Valedictorian and has an accounting degree. Her memberships include the Arkansas Association of Continuing Treasurer’s Education and the South Sebastian County Historical  Society.
Miller has been married to Sam Miller for 39 years, and they have two children, Brad and Ashley.

She noted in her campaign statement that she “has made several improvements in the Collector’s office during the last year. The Collector’s office is going paperless as much as possible to cut the expense of printing.”

Her statement also noted that the Treasurer’s office collected more than $200,000 in delinquent taxes in 2009, and is upgrading the financial software program to make access easier for other county departments.

“We have an open door policy. In the present economy, the office must be conservative in every aspect of business. I pledge to maintain the integrity of the offices with professionalism and courtesy to everyone,” Miller noted.
