Altrusa delivers funds to charities

Altrusa International of Fort Smith presented more than $16,000 to six area organizations. The funds were part of the proceeds from the 2009 22nd annual Taste of Fort Smith event, which was held Oct. 27 at the Fort Smith Convention Center. Several hundred people came to sample the food, beverage and desserts of at least 45 area restaurants.
Altrus donates the proceeds from the event to area charities. Project Compassion, Boy’s Shelter, Community Rescue Mission and Fort Smith Public Library each receive $1,000 with the remainder split among Altrusa’s literacy charities.
