Witches, jailbirds and fairies … Oh my!

Old and young. Two or four legged. In or out of costume; they strolled down historic Main Street in Van Buren on Saturday (Oct. 31) gathering treats and partaking of activities during the annual Halloween on Main Street event.
Candy wasn’t the only draw of the event. A train called the Rollout Express took trick or treaters for a fun ride up and down Main Street. Johnna Kelley of Vinita, Okla., was contracted by the city of Van Buren for the event. She also offered pony rides around a circular corral.
Entertainment was provided by Buddy "Holly" Kelly a Buddy Holly look-alike from Mulberry. Kelly invited his friend and fellow singer Wayne Erikson to perform at the event, also.
A street dance and Halloween costume contest rounded out the evening which lasted from 6 to 8 p.m.
