Fort Smith Junior League does the Jingle Bell Ball

Jingle Bell Ball is a part of this year’s Holiday Market presented by Junior League of Fort Smith. The event was chaired by Ashley Beck and featured a cocktail hour, live auction, silent auction and dancing with music from Boom Kinetic.

Junior League of Fort Smith Inc. is an organization of more than 400 women committed to “promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable,” according to its Web site.

The League was accepted into the Association of Junior Leagues International in 1960, after working in the community more than 10 years as the Fort Smith Service League.

Since the turn of the new century, the Junior League of Fort Smith as continued work with Adult Literacy and the Children’s Emergency Shelter. It’s Table to Table program was turned over to the community,  and the League started Suited for Success, Reach out and Read, Lean On Me, Buckle Up and Be Safe, Kids in the Kitchen and Done In A Day. Done in A Day is a series of small projects aimed at making an impact within many local non-profit organizations.

Holiday Market continues Sunday from 1 to 5 pm. More than 100 merchants have booths offering a wide range of holiday gifts and other items.
