Van Buren High School Hall of Honor ceremony scheduled
The 10th annual Van Buren High School Hall of Honor 2009 Induction Ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 p.m., Oct. 24, in the Commons Areas of the high school at 2001 Pointer Trail East.

The Class of 2009 inductees are:
• Dorothy A. Greig
1939 VBHS graduate and renowned Van Buren first grade teacher at Sophia Meyer who laid a firm foundation of discipline and responsibility for her students – never allowing physical disability to deter her drive to work actively with children and her community. The Dorothy A. Greig – Elementary Teacher of the Year Award is given annually to recognize one of the Van Buren School District’s outstanding elementary teachers.
• Charles E. Peer
1971 VBHS graduate whose talents in the fine arts have culminated in dual distinguished careers as an innovative professor of art for John Brown University, currently its largest collegiate department; and as an outstanding private artist and illustrator whose works are included in many public and private collections.
• John D. Rotert
Outstanding and highly respected Van Buren High School English teacher whose career spanned 38 years as a role model and mentor for VBSD students and colleagues and whose areas of extra-curricular service sponsoring Future Teachers of America (FTA) and the National Honor Society helped instill within his students the importance of education and the need to serve others.
