UA?s Long Denies Withholding Information

University of Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long issued a statement Oct. 9 denying he intentionally omitted material requested by ArkansasSports360.com and the Northwest Arkansas Business Journal under the Freedom of Information Act.
The material in question is a slide used in a presentation during negotiations to secure health care providers for the UA. The slide, which expressed a desire for health care providers to reach sponsorship agreements with the UA, was obtained via an independent source by the Business Journal.
When initially asked about the omission on Sept. 15, Long said only that the slide requesting sponsorship money was used to “set the stage for negotiations.”
Long, who originally said sponsorship money wasn’t discussed during negotiations, made a follow-up phone call to Chris Bahn of ArkansasSports360.com on Sept. 25, and said the slide wasn’t released because it is in possession of trainer Joe Sheehan, who no longer works at the university.
