Senator Blanche Lincoln Losing in Polls

Senator Blanche Lincoln became quite popular in the news recently when she sided with Republicans on several amendments in the health care reform.

She opposed the Democratic public option amendments and was one of two Democrats to join Senate Republicans in voting for an amendment to reinstate funding for abstinence-only education

Lincoln’s votes earned her lots of media attention, including mentions on Newsweek.com, Politico.com and the Huffington Post and even as the co-butt of a joke on the Colbert Report.

But Lincoln, up for re-election in 2010, is losing popularity with Arkansas voters.

A new Rasmussen poll shows Lincoln is trailing all four of her Republican challengers: Sen. Kim Hendren, State Senate Minority Leader Gilbert Baker, and businessmen Curtis Coleman and Tom Cox. In addition, her favorable rating is down to 45 percent, with an unfavorable rating of 52 percent.

This may be good news for Greenland Mayor John Gray, who is running for the nomination of the Arkansas Green Party to challenge Lincoln for her seat in Congress.
