Local Realtor Goes Pink

Crystal Roten, an agent with Prime Real Estate & Development, wants to raise awareness about breast cancer, and she’s willing to hand over part of her commission for each home she sales in order to do so.

In support of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Roten will donate 5 percent of her commission for every property sold.

In her mission to support breast cancer awareness, Roten is using pink ribbons on her real estate signs and her Web site www.gopinkrealestate.com.
She’s also devoting time during her day to post messages on Twitter and Facebook about breast cancer treatment, prevention and research.

“A dear friend of mine lost her mother to breast cancer,” Roten said. “So this is something I wanted to do, it’s something people can feel good about when they buy or sell a home.”

Roten is hoping her commitment will encourage others to make similar efforts in educating the public about breast cancer. She’d eventually like to start a national fundraising event.

If more people are educated and aware, she said, maybe some cases can be prevented.
