Fayetteville’s Garrison Asset Management has a new office in Hilton Head, S.C.
In 2008, GAM purchased Colonial Investments of Bennington, Vt.
The principal and former owner of Colonial, Shawn Leonard, raised nearly $300 million in assets at his former firm, and stayed on with GAM to lead marketing efforts and build a team for Garrison. Leonard recently moved to Hilton Head, and has opened a GAM office there.
GAM, you may remember, is owned by Tom Garrison, retired president and CEO of FedEx Freight East Inc. – the current incarnation of the Harrison company his father built as American Freightways Corp.
The Northwest Arkansas Business Journal’s annual tally of SEC-registered investment advisers isn’t yet complete, but we understand assets under management at GAM have grown near 10 percent since Sept. 2008, when the financial markets started their tumultuous decline.
