The vice president of student affairs at Idaho State University will be joining the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith staff as vice chancellor for student affairs.

Dr. Lee Krehbiel, from Poncatello, Idaho, will begin his work at UAFS on September 28. Krehbiel’s work at UAFS will focus on student life outside of the classroom. He will manage several areas of student life such as housing, clubs, Greek life and co-curricular activities.

“Their agility and ability to make changes is really good for such a young university,” Krehbiel said.

r

At Idaho State, Krehbiel oversaw all projects affecting student affairs. He has managed a dozen departments and budgets of about $20 million. He was also actively involved in accreditation, student government, student health care, housing and food services, campus security and federal programs.

r

“I’m bringing a portfolio of things that hopefully I’ll be able to contribute to UA- Fort Smith right away,” Krehbiel said.

r

Before assuming his current position at Idaho State, Krehbiel served as an associate dean. He has also served as a research associate at the Indiana Education Policy Center at Indiana University and as director of alumni building and campus activities at Berea College in Kentucky.

r

Krehbiel has two bachelor’s degrees, one in history from Wichita State University and one in secondary education and social studies from Kansas University.

r

“It will be good to be closer to home,” he said.

r

Krehbiel earned a master’s in college student personnel administration and a doctorate in educational leadership and policy studies from Indiana University at Bloomington.
