White Oak Stores Get Clean Green Look
The owners of White Oak Stations initially sought out P3 Waste Consulting in hopes of reducing their waste expenses.
r
What they got, in addition to some savings, was a single-stream recycling service that’s become popular with customers.
r
P3 supplied the bins, which will be located on gas-pump islands at White Oak’s Pinnacle location as well as its three Fayetteville stores. Customers can use the bins to dispose of plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The recyclables will be placed in a separate dumpster from other trash and hand sorted at a recycling facility.
r
The recycling service is provided by Roll Off Service Inc. and Waste Management.
r
Steven Lair, part owner of the White Oak stores, said there was an initial concern that the clear bins would be an eyesore.
r
“But the customers actually appreciated it, appreciated the fact that we’re recycling,” Lair said. “And it didn’t turn out to be unsightly at all. It actually gives the island a clean kind of look.”
r
The placement of the bins at the Fayetteville stores represents the second phase of a plan to implement them at all nine White Oak locations in Northwest Arkansas, Lair said.
