It’s nice to see Bentonville get some national publicity for something other than being the headquarters for that big retailer, especially as the city strives to make its downtown area a tourist destination.

The city was recently mentioned on The Huffington Post for its farmers market and the value it adds to the community development efforts. Daniel Hintz, executive director of Downtown Bentonville Inc. was quoted saying, “It simply makes sense to position the farmers market as an integrated component in our downtown development strategies.” Well said, Daniel.

Fayetteville also gets a small mention in the article, which highlights the growth of markets in the U.S. and how they strengthen their communities.

“At each market, local growers and customers meet, mix, and make their community stronger,” the article states. “This happens in small towns across the country on each market day-–from Brattleboro, VT to Fayetteville, AR to Hanalei, HI.”
