PRSA Grants Apex Awards
Kathy Deck, executive director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Arkansas was named “Communicator of the Year” for 2008 by the Northwest Arkansas chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
Cydnee Cochran, an account manager with Mitchell Communications of Fayetteville, was awarded “Public Relations Practitioner of the Year” award.
The PRSA chapter annually accepts entries for Apex awards in the categories of public relations campaign, media kits, annual reports, internal and external publications, writing, and creative tactics.
Other Apex winners included:
• The Sells Agency won Apex awards for best creative tactics, newsletter and press/media kit.
• Mitchell Communications was named with its clients for three awards: two with Tyson Foods Inc. (for social media and press conference) and one with Southwest Energy for a feature story.
• The University of Arkansas’ Walton College of Business won an Apex for special events and observances for its “Decade of Dreams,” Arkansas Business Hall of Fame.
• UA University Relations won an award for Arkansas magazine.
• Ozark Guidance of Springdale won awards for best brochure and annual report.
• Wal-Mart Stores Inc. of Bentonville won an Apex for best Web site.
• Arvest Bank won an award for best blog.
• The Beaver Water District won for best publication.
• Clarus Communications won for best public relations campaign.
