John Nock and Richard Alexander, the owners of the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Fayetteville, are facing a criminal summons for failing to remit HMR and supplemental beverages taxes.

According to a recent letter from the city prosecutor’s office, the HMR taxes haven’t been paid from December 2008 to February 2009 and the supplemental beverages taxes have not been paid for the months of November 2008 through February 2009.

Punishment for not paying the tax is up to a $500 fine for the first offense, and double that for subsequent convictions, plus a $250 per day fine for each day of the continuing offense.
