Country musician Darryl Worley, the new country duet team of Caitlin & Will and cast members of “Trick my Truck” are the entertainment for the June 18 Cox Community Concert that is part of the Fort Smith Classic.

The concert was announced by Cox spokeswoman Kelly Zega at a Monday (April 27) media day lunch at Hardscrabble Country Club.

The Classic, in its 12th year at Hardscrabble as part of the PGA Nationwide Tour, is scheduled for June 13-21, with professional golf play set for June 18-21. The purse for the tour is $550,000, with the winner receiving $99,000.

The Classic also supports local charities, with more than $1.3 million given to local non-profits in the 12 years of the event. The Beth Koprovic Memorial charities for 2009 include the Children’s Emergency Shelter, Children’s Service League, Fort Smith Boys and Girls Clubs, Girls Inc., The First Tee of Fort Smith and Westark RSVP.

Classic Director Patricia Brown told the media crowd the event is “more than just a golf tournament.” She said several new events, including “Pink on the Links” and the Kraft-Planters Community Day, are events geared to include women and families at The Classic.

“The 2009 Fort Smith Classic has more to offer the community in terms of professional golf, family fun and nighttime culture,” Brown said in a statement.
