Pink Slip Party Planned

For the 700 or so people who were laid off from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. on Feb. 10, it’s a sad fact that some may have to dig into their savings to stay afloat.

The recent phenomenon of Pink Slip Parties has moved from Wall Street to Walnut Street. We’ve heard of a few private get-togethers where recruiters are trying to help those out of work, but The Point Financial Group of Springdale is thinking longer term. The company will host a pink slip party at Eddie Haskell’s Patio and Grill in Rogers on March 5 specifically for those affected by the Wal-Mart layoff.

“What we want to do is help them with advice on how to manage their stock and still plan for retirement,” said Erin West, a spokewoman for the Point.
