No Suds Come E-Z in Fayetteville
E-Z Mart in Fayetteville just won’t give up the quest to sell beer. Despite a rejection from the state’s Alcohol Beverage Control Board last year, four Fayetteville E-Z Mart stores applied for retail beer permits in December.
E-Z Mart submitted applications to sell beer in its stores at 1950 N. Leverett Ave., 1540 E. 15th St., 1417 W. Sixth St. and 3408 S. School Ave. E-Z Mart obviously wasn’t deterred when its Wedington Drive location was rejected last summer when both the Fayetteville Police Chief and Washington County Sheriff opposed the idea.
ABC Director Michael Langley said he expects the stores will continue to submit applications, despite the city officials’ adamant objections.
A Murphy Express station in Springdale also applied for a retail beer permit last month.
Currently, there are no convenience stores in Springdale or Fayetteville that sell beer. Tontitown and Elkins each have two convenience stores with retail beer permits.
