Election schedules and military operations focus of bill filings
It was a quiet day in Little Rock, with less than 20 bills filed to be considered at the 87th Arkansas General Assembly. Some of the interesting bills filed Wednesday include:
SB 253
The bill, filed by Sen. Steve Faris, D-Malvern, would move Arkansas primary elections from May to August.
HB 1263
This bill proposes to create a mechanism for the interim filling of vacancies for the office of county judge and sheriff during times of emergency.
HB 1259
This bill, pushed by the Joint Budget Committee, establishes the budget for the state military department. It sets the pay for the Arkansas Adjutant General at $106,917, and sets the operations budget at $9.01 million.
