Crawford County high on foreclosure filing list
Foreclosure numbers from Irvine, Calif.-based RealtyTrac show 116 foreclosure activities in the Fort Smith region in November 2008, a 45 percent increase from November 2007 and a 6.4 percent increase from October.
Crawford County ranked third in the state on the RealtyTrac report with one foreclosure filing per 512 households. Benton County ranked first, with one filing per 170 households, and Washington County ranked second with one filing per 357 households.
Arkansas posted 1,542 foreclosure-related filings in November.

RealtyTrac’s November report showed that foreclosure filings — default notices, auction sale notices and bank repossessions — were reported on 259,085 U.S. properties during the month, a 7 percent decrease from the previous month but still up 28 percent from November 2007. The report also shows one in every 488 U.S. housing units received a foreclosure filing in November.
