New Gypsy Takes over Dart Spot

The improvements to College Avenue continue as another old building gets a makeover. The former Dart Room, which closed its doors in February, is now The Gypsy on College.

The Gypsy on Dickson, a popular music venue since it opened in 2002, closed this summer and was replaced by Club Froggy’s.

According to the Gypsy’s Myspace page, John Dortch, the founding partner of the Gypsy on Dickson, decided to reopen the venue in a new location. The building’s exterior has been repainted and has gone through an extensive interior remodeling. The venue has a new bar, elevated booth seating and new sound and lighting. The venue offers an alternative to Dickson Street nightlife, with “plenty of parking” and “no tow trucks allowed.”
