The 12th Vendors FORE Education golf tournament July 18 at Stonebridge Country Club in Fayetteville netted $20,000 to fund scholarships for students at the Walton College of Business Center for Retailing Excellence at the University of Arkansas.

Firestone Complete Auto Care, a board member of the CRE, brought Indy Car driver Sarah Fisher to Northwest Arkansas as her main sponsor.

All 30 four-man teams were filled and the tourney had “a real good turnout,” according to Adam Basche of event organizer E-Wolff Solutions in Bentonville.

In 12 years, the tournament has now raised more than $120,000 for scholarships.

Another highlight of the day was the opportunity for participants to pay for a chance to outdrive members of the Arkansas Razorbacks women’s golf team.

Last year, 53 pink golf balls were handed out to those who failed to beat the women; Basche said 96 were handed out this year.

“They brought a couple of their heavy hitters,” Basche said. “They really kind of emasculated us.”
