The Arkansas Division of Behavioral Health recently announced that it awarded its first Exemplary Program Recognition to Ozark Guidance’s Assertive Community Treatment rehabilitation program.

Ozark Guidance provides mental health services for residents throughout the state. The organization has a main campus in Springdale and satellite offices in Bentonville, Fayetteville and Siloam Springs.

The ACT is an adult psychosocial rehabilitative day program that offers group therapy sessions and activities based on an individual’s needs and goals.

The award is a way to showcase programs that are meeting the ever-changing demands of the mental health field.

Day treatment coordinator Amanda McKeigney said the department has been updating its day treatment model and curriculum for the past 18 months.

The program now provides individualized, goal-oriented treatment.

McKeigney said the award was a welcomed surprise for her and her department.

The organization received its award during a formal ceremony at the Division of Behavioral Health’s administrative building in Little Rock on July 8.
