Lodgings Limited for Big Fall Weekends

It’s that time of year again.

The time of year when many folks will be kicking themselves for not booking hotel rooms early enough for some of the big regional draws this fall, like Bikes Blues & BBQ and University of Arkansas football games.

There is still some availability for Razorback games, although the weekend of the big bike rally is mostly cinched up.

Value Place in Fayetteville has the most rooms available for game weekends. Rooms there are booked for a week at a time for a flat rate of $179 (about $220 after taxes), but many folks stay for just a weekend.

There are 70 rooms left at Value Place for the Aug. 30 opening game against Western Illinois. There are also 70 rooms available for the Alabama game on Sept. 20 and 68 available for Ole Miss and Houston Nutt’s glorious return to the state on Oct. 25.

If you were thinking of lodging at Staybridge Suites on Fifteenth Street in Fayetteville for BBBBQ or a football game, well, you’d be out of luck. It’s booked up completely for those dates.

Clarion Inn in Fayetteville has 33 rooms available for the football opener, but none for BBBBQ (set for Sept. 24-27), Alabama or Ole Miss.

Embassy Suites in Rogers has plenty of space for BBBBQ, with about 250 rooms available. Game weekends are a bit tighter, and you’d have to book for Friday and Saturday nights.

Of course, if you’re a throw-caution-to-the-wind type, you could try the Cosmopolitan in downtown Fayetteville. The hotel has been enduring a Kafkaesque series of renovations in the last year or so.

Right now, 98 of the Cosmopolitan’s 235 rooms are available, and the hotel is not taking reservations for any of them for BBBBQ or game weekends.
