Caterers in Northwest Arkansas handled 3,865 events in 2007, a 14.5 percent increase from the 2006 total of 3,376, that’s according to the inaugural list of largest full service caterers, which begins on Page 22.
The caterers served a variety of clients. In addition to weddings, fundraising events and parties, they fed many in the corporate world, at Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Tyson Foods Inc., Arvest Bank and J.B. Hunt Transportation Services Inc., as well as serving up their offerings at University of Arkansas and John Brown University events.
At the top of the list was Catering Unlimited of Springdale, with 2,000 events of 50 or more people. A spokeswoman from Catering Unlimited said the business handles as many as 12 events a day and has many regular customers.
There were also several caterers on the list that got started fairly recently.
Cuisines Catering and Leslie’s Catering, both of Rogers, were started in 2006. Brick House Kitchen in Fayetteville got its start in the last part of 2007, and Main Street Catering and Event Center in Bentonville started this year, although owner Donna Russell has owned Custom Catering Co. in Springdale since 1988.
