Dixie Bargains Sell At Real Estate Auction
It must have been nice while it lasted. Not that it lasted more than a few weeks.
Ben Israel went to the trouble of setting up a posh pad for his Dixie Management & Investment LP on the third and fourth floors of Commerce Park II in Fayetteville, only to see all the furniture auctioned off on April 2 after a creditor seized $456,570.55 worth of the furnishings which were put up as collateral.
This included plenty of high-end office accoutrements, like some Herman Miller file cabinets ($583.53) and cubicles ($4,300) and nine Martin Brattrud interlocking modular lounge chairs ($14,926).
But the pièce de résistance had to be a custom 24-foot conference table with lighting, electrical outlets, Internet connectivity and holes for built-in (though not yet installed) microphones.
Original cost: $23,827.
No word yet on what the total haul was by bargain hunters, but there were plenty of bidders and browsers, and the moving companies that were on hand probably had a pretty good day.
