BNSF Logistics Buys International Firm

BNSF Logistics LLC moved into the international sector with its Feb. 1 acquisition of Diversified Freight Logistics Inc. and Royal Cargo Line, together known as DFL.
Springdale-based BNSF is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. of Fort Worth.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
DFL is based in Grapevine, Texas, and provides international freight management. In 2007 the company recorded about $40 million in revenue.
The acquisition will allow BNSF to provide air and ocean import and export and custom brokerage services through its BNSF Logistics International division.
Eric Wolfe, vice president and general manager of BNSF Logistics said the company’s newest move is consistent with its theme of evolving to meet customer demand.
