Arvest Bank will be adding a new branch in Springfield in 2008.

The bank already has one location there, which opened in June, as well as branches in Joplin and Branson.

The new branch will be 6,200-SF and will employ 15 to 20 people, said Michal Moss Early, assistant vice president and private banking manager of the Springfield branch.

“We are going to be starting construction in the next month or so, and are hoping to be open early in the fourth quarter,” she said.

The standalone branch will facilitate commercial, mortgage and consumer lending, as well as all depository services.

The bank doesn’t have plans for branches in surrounding cities such as Nixa or Ozark but there will be more Springfield locations in the near future.

“We are going to be pretty aggressive in Springfield,” she said.

As of June 30, there were 42 banks doing business in the Springfield MSA with a total of 184 offices. They were competing for about $7.71 billion in deposits and the Arvest office controlled only $272,000.

Arvest is the only Arkansas-chartered bank doing business in Springfield.
