Forty Under 40: Jesse Core
Jesse Core, 35, has a lot on his plate these days. The Fort Smith native works full time, serves on the Springdale City Council, takes classes through Harding University and still makes time for his wife and new daughter.
Core spent his 20s traveling from coast to coast working as a software programmer during the dot-com boom.
He met his wife, Alexandra, while in charge of the software department for AgriMarkets Inc., a San Diego company.
In 2005, Core and his wife made the decision to relocate to Arkansas. It was about that same time Core made the decision to become more active in his community.
“I told my wife that I wanted to get involved in the community where our family would be living,” he said.
In 2006, Core was elected to the Springdale City Council.
He is now a member of eight different committees and said he spends time each day attending meetings, working with community members or attending city events.
He enjoys serving his community and hopes to make public service a big part of his future.
Core has no plans of slowing down and he hopes to complete his undergraduate degree and earn his MBA within the next three years. He wants to continue developing his skills so he can provide greater value to his employer and his city.
