The power of global networking is not lost on Jeannette Balleza, 29.

She relocated to Northwest Arkansas from Little Rock in 2001 to work for a marketing firm, and started her own company in 2004.

The flexibility of being self-employed, combined with the freedom of working mostly on the Internet has allowed Balleza to connect with other young professionals regardless of her physical location.

“I definitely want to master the art of our generation, which is balancing work and flexibility and mobility,” she said.

Through Scribe Marketing, Balleza has worked with businesses and other organizations both near (Mathias Properties Inc. in Springdale) and far (National Council for International Visitors in Washington, D.C.).

In addition to serving on boards for nonprofits such as Fayetteville Downtown Partners and the Washington County Professional Women’s Network, Balleza is also involved with global aid groups such as Women for Women International, which helps women in war-torn countries achieve economic self-sufficiency.

She’s also working with the Schmieding Center on video curriculum called ElderStay@Home for educating adults about care giving techniques for their elderly parents.

Balleza likes working with big groups of people, but appreciates the wisdom of individual peers and mentors.
