University of Arkansas journalism professor Larry Foley won an Emmy award for his documentary “Charles Banks Wilson – Portrait of an American Artist.”

Foley was awarded the Emmy on Oct. 20 from the mid-America chapter of the National Academy of Television and Arts and Sciences. It was his second Emmy and his fifth nomination.

Wilson is an Oklahoma native who lives in Fayetteville and whose portfolio includes portraits of Native Americans that hang in the Oklahoma Capitol building.

Foley said he produced the film for about $8,000 over the course of five years.

“This means a lot because Charles became a friend and I was able to showcase his life,” Foley said.

The documentary is frequently shown on AETN.
