Subs File More Legacy Liens
The Barber Group has been scrambling lately to keep its projects in order. September was a rough month as several subcontractors who performed work on the Legacy Building in downtown Fayetteville filed liens or foreclosures totaling around $1.1 million in advance of deadlines to preserve their claims.
The largest was Lasco Acoustic & Drywall of Dallas, which filed a lien for $473,752 on Sept. 6. Lasco took a different tack in attempting to collect its debt, sending “intent-to-file” lien notices to Barber and the seven current condo owners on July 16.
Harness Roofing of Harrison, which filed a lien for $121,734 on Sept. 7, exempted the condo owners from its filing.
EWI Inc. and its subsidiary RGC Glass filed a lien foreclosure action on the Legacy on Sept. 21 for the remaining $124,604 it is owed, adding a second claim of $124,604 for unjust enrichment. Kimbel Mechanical Inc. filed three foreclosures totaling $100,709 against Barber properties Piedmont Place, Deerpath Estates and Fairlane on Sept. 17
