It took more than 16 months, but Mason Hiba built it, and they came.

Hiba opened his fourth Mason’s location on Aug. 31, and the twilight scene of a long line of car headlights waiting to turn into his new 9,500-SF store at the Bellafont on Joyce Boulevard reminded him of the famous ending of the movie “Field of Dreams.”

“There was a bottleneck of cars trying to turn into the parking lot,” Hiba said. “One word: Fantastic. We knew it would do well. We knew this was what it ought to be doing. It was just fantastic. We are so thankful to God.”

Hiba received rave reviews of his building and bustling sales of his exclusive upscale offerings in women’s and men’s fashions.

“They were in awe,” he said. “It was like, ‘Wow.’ It was great. Everything is new. We’re bringing in new merchandise every day. Everyone is finding something.”

As he wraps up one project, Hiba will begin another. The Mason’s at the Northwest Arkansas Mall will have a “mega, blowout sale,” then close for renovations in mid-September and reopen in late October with fashions designed to appeal to a “young, hip” demographic.

“We are going to give it a more modern look,” Hiba said. “(The mall location) is what made us who we are. We’re not going to walk away from it.”

Mason’s will host a local designers fashion showcase Sept. 21-23 at the Bellafont location. There will also be a cocktail party and auction Sept. 21 to benefit the Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
