Emelia’s Mediterranean Kitchen on Dickson Street in Fayetteville celebrated its third anniversary on June 22. By early 2008 owners George and Sara Lusher hope to be celebrating the grand opening of a second location known simply as Emelia’s at the Bellafont retail center on Joyce Boulevard.
Now that The Barber Group secured the final financing to finish the stalled project, the Lushers are on board to lease 4,100 SF of space that will include a much larger kitchen and a separate gourmet deli offering select deli cuts of meat not readily available elsewhere in Northwest Arkansas.
“Everything is a go,” Sara Lusher said. “The plans are for a full scale restaurant that will be a little more upscale. We’ll have a bigger bar [than the present location] that will have 12 seats plus some tables.”
Lusher said the menu will be somewhat similar to the current locale, but will include more appetizers and new items like rack of lamb. She said the new Emelia’s will also serve breakfast every day compared to the weekend brunches at the original restaurant.
Lusher said they originally hoped to open in November, but with the Bellafont running behind, now they expect to open in January or February 2008.
Lusher said they plan to use the same subcontractors and their architect, Bob Kohler, who helped them with the Dickson location.
