Brashears Getting Busy in Springdale

It didn’t take long for Brashears Furniture to make its first dollar at its new location in Springdale.
Rainy weather throughout the spring pushed back the hoped-for open date in April, but apparently plenty of Northwest Arkansans were eagerly awaiting its arrival after more than 70 years of success in Berryville.
The 30,000-SF showroom is fully stocked and all 12 sales people had their hands full on July 7 when Brashears finally opened its doors just south of Outback Steakhouse on Thompson Street.
“The traffic was exceptional,” said Brashears spokesman Robert Hodgson. “It was beyond what we hoped for. The response has been outstanding. We had a huge number of people on the floor all day Saturday and we had 80 groups come in on Monday (July 9). “People were really excited for us.”
Mickey Mitchell, who, like owner Doug Brashears, is a former president of the Arkansas Furniture Association, will manage the Springdale location.
Mitchell has 30 years experience in the furniture industry, all with Havertys Furniture. Mitchell, a Mississippi native, managed four locations in Little Rock for 10 years and spent 20 working for the chain in Florida until Doug Brashears convinced him to return to Arkansas when his contract was up in February.
Once the bugs are out with the computers and the sales staff has some Brashears experience (nearly all were recruited from area furniture stores) the store will have a grand opening celebration, Hodgson said.
