The Northwest Arkansas Community Foundation of Springdale recently received notification that it has met the nation’s highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity and accountability.
The notice comes from the Council on Foundations, a national professional association based in Washington D.C. The National Standards for U.S. Community Foundations Program requires foundations to document policies for donor services, investments, grant making and administration. The program is the first of its kind in the U.S.
With more than 200 companies already confirmed to be in compliance nationwide, the program is designed to provide quality assurance to donors as well as their legal and financial advisers.
The NACF offers a range of charitable funds. It also supports individual organizations, provides support for community needs and can recommend individual grants.
In addition, the NACF recently named Pearl McElfish director of donor relations. She replaces Connie Hendrix-Kral, who left the foundation after six years to take a job in Little Rock.
