Beebe Helps Bring Big Bucks to NWACC
With Gov. Mike Beebe speaking, Northwest Arkansas Community College raked in $100,000 at its annual gala.
The proceeds will be used for student scholarships.
There were 600 people in attendance, many bidding on the four items of the live auction.
The big-ticket item of the night was the trip for two to the La Crete region of Tuscany, Italy that fetched $5,500. Someone put $2,100 on the table for a catered dinner at the home of Bill and Carolyn Schwyhart. Local artist Nadine Ripplemeyer painted on-site a Tuscan-themed painting that collected $2,000. For $600, someone took advantage of a scenic flight over Northwest Arkansas with limo service to dinner at Oscar’s Steakhouse.
A silent auction with about 100 items brought in $24,000, Becky’s Book Club garnered $23,000 for books scholarships and table sponsorships helped round out the rest of the night’s proceeds.
