Area ABC affiliate, KHBS-KHOG-TV, Channels 40/29 will soon relocate its Fayetteville offices to Rogers, said general manager Jim Prestwood. The station also has operations in Fort Smith.
The Rogers city council approved the station’s tower relocation on Feb. 20 and the group hopes to move from its offices by late June.
Station operators have been crammed into 1,300 SF, but will have about 6,700 SF of space leased by Haynes Ltd. of Rogers.
Prestwood said he’d been looking for new offices for about a year and a half, but wherever the station is, it has to have line-of-sight with the transmission tower on a mountain in southeast Fayetteville. That creates some unique challenges, he said.
Eventually the station will maintain a Fayetteville bureau with a couple of news and sports reporters, Prestwood said, but a location hasn’t been selected.
