Retail Rumblings

We’ve been hearing The Barber Group has been working with two major retailers, Nordstrom and Macy’s, about opening stores in the area around the Pinnacle Hills Promenade Mall in Rogers.
However, none of that could be confirmed — or denied.
“We are working on a number of deals on that property in Rogers, but nothing we can share at this time,” said Brandon Barber, chairman and CEO of the Springdale company.
According to an insider with Macy’s, the store had been exploring moving into Northwest Arkansas “in 2008 or 2009,” but was hoping to buyout an existing retailer rather than build a new store on unoccupied land.
Nordstrom is based in Seattle, Wash., Macy’s is based in New York City, but it’s parent company, Federated Department Stores Inc. is in Cincinnati, Ohio. The company also owns Bloomingdale’s.
