Kudos to Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reporter Bob Holt for his scoop on Dec. 13, which exposed one of the stranger situations the University of Arkansas football team has had publicized in recent years.
The story detailed a Dec. 7 meeting between parents of three former Springdale High School players and UA athletic director Frank Broyles about concerns over “the direction of the football program.”
News of the unusual meeting spawned plenty of controversy, including the request for a transfer from former Springdale receiver Damian Williams. It even received coverage on several ESPN programs in the days that followed debating the parents’ decision to go over the head coaches’ head in the midst of a 10-win season.
