State Police Looking for New HQ

The Arkansas State Police department is searching for a new site to replace the current headquarters for Troop L (currently at at 900 S. 48th St. in Springdale) with the idea of spending about $7 million on the development. But there are hurdles to clear first.
Through the Arkansas Building Authority, the State Police completed a solicitation for 10 acres off of the intersection of Highway 264 and Interstate 540. Ann Laidlaw said that Sage Partners of Fayetteville had the winning bid of three finalists.
However, Laidlaw said construction of a new headquarters for Troop L is contingent upon receiving enough funding during the upcoming legislative session.
Bill Sadler, State Police spokesman, said the state has been looking at various sites along I-540.
The State Police is looking to build a facility of about 25,000 SF, quite a step up from its 4,600-SF facility.
Sadler said the project is not a done deal. The department is actively pursuing funds.
“The situation is still very fluid,” Sadler said.
