A Little Rock law firm recently won a judgment of more than $500,000 against a former client.
Wright Lindsey & Jennings LLP, which also has an office in Rogers, had represented Great Western Resources LLC of Fort Smith starting in October 2001, according to the law firm’s complaint, filed in Pulaski County Circuit Court.
Great Western and its owners, Lance Beaty and Stephen Nelson, racked up legal bills totaling $543,000, the lawsuit said.
When it came time to pay, Great Western didn’t.
Wright Lindsey sued the company, Beaty and Nelson in September and reached a settlement for the money in October.
Great Western’s attorney, Jeb Joyce, wasn’t available for comment.
Wright Lindsey acquired Great Western as a client when the company was struggling. Between October 2000 and May 2001, Great Western was billed $160,000 in overdraft charges by its bank.
A former Great Western partner, Stephen A. Griffin of Fort Smith, filed for bankruptcy protection in 2002.
