Fayetteville Law Partners Split

Don Elliot and Tim Smith left the Odom & Elliot law firm in downtown Fayetteville in mid-September. The two formed Elliot & Smith PA. The remaining firm is the Odom Law Firm, headed by Bobby Odom. The two had been partners for 24 years.

Elliot said the split was amicable and friendly. The spilt was to “narrow the focus” of his practice, he said. Elliot’s primary practice is in personal injury law.

Elliot wouldn’t say how much his practice had in billings last year, in part because the firm operates mostly on contingency fees.

“Overall we’re able to make a cornbread livin’,” he said.

Also in September, two lawyers left Wright Lindsey & Jennings’ Rogers office to staff the first Arkansas office of San Francisco-based Littler Mendelson, a labor and employment law firm.
